I am new in the State around a year since I moved from Mayagüez, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to Richmond, Commonwealth of Virginia, USA.
Coming from what many consider a second type of USA Citizen (due to my country be Territory, not a State we cannot vote for the USA President in the Island but we USA Citizen and pay federal taxes).
Having a Black Grandfather and ‘Sangre Borincana’ in my blood. I have to say that I HAVE TO WRITE THIS STORY about this ‘white activist’.
That is fighting for us Latinos and immigrants. Alone in her own way and the way she can.
I want to tell you what I have learned from this female hero that I will call ‘Brigid’; like the goddess of the spring or new beginning in the Irish tradition.
I spoke to you about her in ‘An Irish activist and Bad Bunny fan! Chinga La Migran’ and I need to do it again!
Before I ask you to help her, help others I need to let you know that I did not ask for permission to tell her story, but I hope it will inspire you as much as she inspires me.
She had been an spoke person agains ICE violation to Human Rights but when that is not enough she contribute to the Houseless of the city bringing some hope to others.
The last time I saw her she was at the supermarket buying basic food for homeless people and I need to say:
Thank you Brigid to devote your life to help others!
