I am in the Spectrum, I am Neuro-Divergents in this beautiful blue planet we call earth. I have several diagnosis like dyscalculia and Dyslexia, but for me the real challenge is the combination of being autistic and ADHD.
I discover that my brain is ADHD when I was 33 years old, and my Autism type I at my 54 less than 3 years ago. All my life I have been dealing with the side effects of what I call my ‘Neuro-reality’. This includes breakdowns, both psychological and neurological, anxiety, depression and more recent anxiety attacks. I imagine that as the neurological system gets older, the symptoms get worse like ‘Tourette syndrome’ but that is a topic for another day.
Today I feel like I am one of the few adults that receive a late diagnosis, but if the statistics are real they are millions of adults with autism and have no idea they are autistic.
In the past; when I experience the typical autistic burnout to call it somehow I had no idea on how to deal with it!
Today I have a small group of friends in a private chat, when I write S.O.S., means I need to ground myself. I need help to see reality as it, and my brain is out of balance.
Usually after I speak with a friend or someone I trust, the feeling goes away.
…but the feeling of what? You may ask.
It depends on the situation but is a combination of felling trap, mental and/or emotional fatigue, with a twist of shame and guilt.
It feels like every thing turns into 3D MAZE from which I have to escape and I don’t know how. Is like been a mobile phone and cannot find any antenna.
Dysregulation are real, are hard and can happen in any moment.
If you know somebody with Autism, ADHD or as in my case both be there for us, be a friend, be the antenna that receive the S.O.S.
