Hola and hi!
There is a Japanese word call; ‘Domö Arigatö’ and can be translated as “agradecimiento” or ‘gratitude’. For me being grateful have multiples was or expression one of the is through acknowledgment.
…this is my way to be grateful to her and her contributions to my life!
“Como muchos de ustedes ya saben”, I had been struggling with my neurodiversity since the beginning of time; or at least the beginning of my life here on planet earth.
For around 9 years I used to take ADHD medication in the form of amphetamines as Methatadate CD and Concerta. They did help me improve my ‘La La Land/Lost in Space’ type of life, to a more workable life. Sometimes I was even able to achieve hyper-focus. Unfortunately for me the medications started to give me a hard time with my heart, so eventually they were no longer a choice.
In the process I learned to deal with my brain the best I could, but at the end of the 2023 and after enjoying a major break down. I was forced to go deeper! Dr. Ronal Malave Ortiz Md in psychiatrist and after requesting him ADHD medication he told me something along these lines.
“Are you sure you want to go back?”; then he asked me if I knew about Socrates method, so a journey began or should I say continue… 🤔 In the process of re-discovering what it is ADHD and how I could I overcome it I found Dr. Tracey Marks.
She is a general and forensic psychiatrist with over 20 years whose mission is to increase mental health awareness and understanding by educating people on psychiatric disorders, mental well-being, and self-improvement. Dr. Marks produces educational videos on her YouTube channel. She also maintains a general psychiatry clinical practice focusing on mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and burnout.
What do I have learn from Dr. Marks that have change my life:

1) Understanding how the Dopamine and norepinephrine, affects the biochemistry of my brain. I was 33 when I first discovered my ADHD; but it wasn’t until Dr. Tracey explained to me (in her channel), that full understood the magnitude of the problem. To keep simple Dopamine is indispensable for the brain 🧠 to feel pleasure. This pleasure or happiness is vital for many aspects of our daily life amount them for learning and getting things done!
2) Working memory. They are multiples types of memory that work together one of them is call Working memory. Which is basically a short memory, which is essential for maintaining focus, follow up with task or instructions and organizegthing thoughts.
Other types of memories that are also affected by ADHD are Prospective Memory, which is involve in remembering to perform PLANNING actions. Also Episodic Memory, that is essential for recalling specific details or events from personal experience and helps the brain to learn for past experience.
3) Time management
and schedule performance. If you or someone you love have ADHD you may notice the lack of punctuality in his/her life. Well! The way I understand it have to do with the un ability of understanding time. Dr. Tracey did explain it in (at least for me) in a remarkable way.
“For a ADHD person, they are two types of times. Now and not now”.
To be honest when I heard this I laughed so hard, I told my Fiancé and my kids. For me it was a ‘pifany’ or Enlighted moment. This short and simple expression have helping me so much in and on my life, that I have no words on how I could positively explain my gratitude to help me with “Nosce te itsvm” or self discovery!
4) Prioritize!
Wow… Where do I begins…!
In my ADHD ‘slash’ Lalaland type of brain understanding this simple concept have made my life a before and after. Understanding that my brain 🧠 by default have no self regulated tools ⚒️ or ways to understand that something are more important that others. That I DO NOT have and endless amount of time to overdo important things. The word ‘prioritizing’ have help to consciously make decisions, in structure and achieved way.
For example my weekly publishing here on Religare.blog, every Wednesday at 09:33 AST for the last 7 weeks I have been posting without delay nor excuse. This is in part for my relatively new understanding of this simple but powerful concept of Priority.
5) Alarm ⏰ incorporation!
A simple but powerful tools 🧰 in Dr. Marks YouTube channel; that have been helping me is to use my Apple watch or my iPhone countdown. This simple concept helps me to break down my time in small chunks. Usually I stop and I analyze how much time do I have vs how much time I need for me to complete a task. Once I have this information ℹ️ I can make an inform planning, I usually start with 90 to 30 minutes, once the alarm sounds brings my attention to the now, I move to other smaller chunks of time. Let’s say 12, 9 or 3 minutes, depending on the priorities and other variables. I believe that this could help you regardless of you having or not ADHD. So I invite you to give it a try!
6) Communication!,
I have been communicating to my Fiancé for years my needs and how she could help me to get things done, but I believe that was Dr. Marks the one that help her understood. So I invite you to see her channel with your someone, family and/or coworkers/team; this will create a holistic communication.
